Rust on serviceberry

I just learned that I have about 20 serviceberry plants on my property and many of them have orange powder on some of the leaves and spikes coming out the the berries. Are all berries now inedible or just the ones that are orange and spiky?

Hi,

Service berry is subjected to rust. It can infect the berries and leaves but usually in the long run causes no harm to the tree. My best advice is to leave the berries for the birds. The fruit may not show outward signs at first that they are infected but this disease is usually pretty widespread over a plant. For more information on rust see:
