Grinding cut trees to make wood chips

Asked June 18, 2019, 4:25 PM EDT

I had 4 large trees cut that were too close to my house. These are trees that were growing naturally when my house was built 22 years ago. Is it possible to have the wood ground into wood chips that could be spread in this wooded part of my yard? Every few years, I replace the wood chips, which is quite expensive. Thank you.

You can use the wood chips on your property.

As long as you are not mixing into the soil, it would be okay to use the wood chips in a wooded area. Make sure mulch is no thicker than several inches and keep away form the base of the trunks and stems of plants. Here is a link from Washington State about using wood chips https://s3.wp.wsu.edu/uploads/sites/403/2015/03/wood-chips.pdf
