weed in lawn

Asked June 13, 2019, 3:20 PM EDT

An Antrim county resident brought in a weed that is growing in mossy clumps in her yard to be identified. If you can ID it and give some control options it would be appreciated.

Hello,

This looks like knawel. It is an annual that grows from seed. Following these lawn care tips promotes a thick lawn that reduces weed seed germination-

Please compare the photos in the links here to confirm it.

Remember to read the label and follow all precautions when using any chemicals. Also, note the caution for dicamba around trees and shrubs in the second link. Thank you.
