Baby mourning doves

Asked June 9, 2019, 8:38 AM EDT

I live in Miami fl. While oit walking our dogs our neighbor alerted us to a dove's nest with 2 babies and no mom. We think a hawk got mom from the amount of feathers we found. We got the 2 babies in a box in a quiet room and left the nest. Since I have 5 bird feeders in my yard, other mourning doves are constantly present. IF we put the babies back in the nest will another momma adopt these two?

It may be difficult but worth a try. They eat crop milk the first few weeks of life. They then grow flight feathers and forage after fledgling from their nests. You would almost have to find another nest that is being used.
