Hello! We recently moved to a home in the woods and noticed an abundance of what I thought was blackberry or raspberry shoots in late winter. They grow in thick patches and the thorny stocks are now taller than my head. However it has never blossomed but now there are these thorny fruits that are growing in clumps of 5 to 8. Is this an edible berry or a weed that is best eliminated? Many thanks in advance!

Prince George's County Maryland invasives wineberry shrub

This looks like wineberry, an invasive plant. It would be best to remove it. Here is more information about it and options for controlling it.
