Hello and thank you for contacting OSU Extension. According to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources Division of Wildlife webpage (http://wildlife.ohiodnr.gov/species-and-habitats/species-guide-index/mammals/eastern-gray-squirrel), gray squirrels remain in the nest until they reach 14 - 15 weeks. Of course, it does depend on the mother and the baby squirrels.

If you should have further questions, please reach out to your Ohio State University Extension Office in Franklin County. Tim McDermott is one of the two Agriculture & Natural Resources in Franklin County and is also a veterinarian. The weblink to that office is https://franklin.osu.edu/ and the phone number is 614-866-6900.

Kind regards,

Teresa
