Canadale Gold winter creeper

Asked May 29, 2019, 9:27 AM EDT

I transplanted my winter creepers last year early in season and they were doing quite well but this spring there is a lot of dead branches , mostly new stuff coming close to the ground. Should I cut off all the dead stuff or wait and see if anything comes back? I know things are kind of slow to come back this spring with the weather.

This particular shrub is actually labeled as a Zone 5 plant (you are in zone 4 which is colder) so you will continue to have dieback and maybe lose it one winter. You can wait another couple weeks if you wish to see if anything leafs out and then cut off what is still bare.
