Growing Tulips in Containers Outside

Asked May 26, 2019, 10:29 PM EDT

Will tulip bulbs that are planted in containers outside (ex:1/2 whiskey barrel) bloom in consecutive years without being dug up and replanted each year? Can they be left outside all winter and still bloom or will the winter cold kill them? If they can be grown this way, when should the bulbs be planted? Can annuals be planted in the whiskey barrel around the bulbs after the tulip blooms fade?
