Pear tree troubles

Asked May 20, 2019, 9:46 PM EDT

This is the second spring I have had some sort of larvae strip my Comice pear tree of leaves...in a matter of hours! In desperation to save my remaining fruit trees I have had to resort to using an insecticide. I have no idea what I'm up against and am very upset about using a chemical that will kill everything. I am desperate to find out what is eating my tree leaves and treat it safely. It has happened almost to the day in May 2018 and again May 2019. Does anyone have any idea what I'm up against and how to deal with it? I don't want to harm anymore insects unnecessarily.

Thank you for your question. I would suggest that you contact your own county Extension office for help, where staff will be aware of local fruit tree issues. Here is their webpage: https://extension.wsu.edu/thurston/ Good luck!
