Poppy seedlings do not transplant very well, especially if you are growing an annual type. Perennial types (Iceland poppies, Oriental poppies) are best transplanted after they flower. If you start poppies from seeds, it is best to sow them directly in the area where you want them to grow. They can re-seed year after year. If it is possible to leave your plants where they are, for now, let them bloom and then spread the seeds in the location where you want them to grow in the future.
