Variegated Dogwood Spots

Asked May 18, 2019, 12:03 PM EDT

What causes the spots that are developing on the leaves of a silver variegated dogwood that I planted last year in Damascus, MD? What can I do to prevent them? See the attached picture.

This looks like a fungal leaf spot called Elsinoe, spot anthracnose, on the dogwood leaves. You may see more of this in wet seasons and is common. This is not a damaging disease and you do not have to spray. No control is necessary. Here is more on our website
