Rose Bushes

Asked May 17, 2019, 9:51 PM EDT

My roses always look great this time of the year. After about a month they always develop black spot. Is there anything I can do now to prevent this from occurring? Thanks

Yes, we were just talking this morning about black spot.
You can help prevent it by managing your rose garden in certain ways as well as by fungicidal applications that would start now (and be repeated, probably thru June- longer if it is rainy like last year.
Here is our page on Black Spot disease with more information:

You should also be aware of rose slug sawfly, which has been an increasing nuisance rose pest of late: https://extension.umd.edu/hgic/topics/rose-slugs-shrubs
