Please Help Identify
Oaks are notoriously challenging to identify, especially because they hybridize easily and you can get mixed characteristics. There are at least 22 different species of oaks that are known to be found in Maryland. Would you be able to provide more information for us? Clear photos of the stems, buds, bark, and any remaining acorns (even acorn caps) from around the tree on the ground would be helpful. If we can see more characteristics, we may be able to identify it for you.
Christa, thank you for the response. I have provided additional information that maybe beneficial in identifying the trees in the wooded portion of my property. Developing a woodland garden is an aspiration for someday in the future.
