Eastern Redbud

Asked May 15, 2019, 3:15 PM EDT

I planted an Eastern Redbud last May. All of the leaves eventually fell off and never produced new leaves or flowers this spring. Just in the last week or so, it began sprouting leaves from the main trunk. There are still no leaves on the branches. Should I prune or just leave it alone?

Give it some time. Since it is a new tree, it may take a while for it to branch out. If it doesn't do so by the end of the month, then it may be dead and should be replaced.
