Dwarf Mistletoe on COCC Bend campus,

Asked May 8, 2019, 7:53 PM EDT

Is there any documentation to the extent that juniper trees on the campus have been infected? I am student here, and a school project I have require that I get this info. Along with this, is there any way of knowing when a tree can survive with extensive pruning based on the tree's crown or the number of mistletoe on the tree?

Hi there,

I am not aware of records of a juniper tree assessment on campus, you might check with your professors.

Hopefully you are learning about tree physiology in class and understand that the more you live branches and needles, the less photosynthetic capacity a tree will have. We like to leave at least 30% live crown for tree survival and resilience.
