Plant ID

Asked May 8, 2019, 6:17 PM EDT

Hi, I was wondering if you have any course in Plant ID, especially species of Southern Oregon (Klamath / Siskyous). I'm a botany tech with BLM Medford Butte Falls office for the season and looking to further my education. Thanks for any help or pointing me to other resources.

Hi,

Extension offers Master Naturalist Eco Region Field Courses that may cover the areas and topics you are interested in. These are usually covering wildlife and ecology as well as botany and may include a volunteer commitment. You can check out their offerings here:

The Siskiyou Field Institute has sometimes offered botany field courses, and may have the plant-centric approach that will most help you get ready for botany fieldwork: http://www.thesfi.org/index.asp

There may be other options out there, you may also wish to check out offerings of the Oregon Native Plant Society or get their suggestions: http://www.npsoregon.org/chapters.html

Good luck!
