Hello, I have several peony's, Mountain Ash tree, grasses, bulbs in a high wind area. I currently have Hemlock mulch down, no issues except it moves around. I was thinking about using Dyed Juniper Mulch, which is heavier. Is there any down side of using Juniper Mulch ???? Nitrogen
Woody mulch is commonly made with the most easily available, and least costly materials. Although I question the value of dying any mulch, juniper mulch should work well if applied about 3 inches deep.
The only issue with nitrogen loss occurs if such raw wood is incorporated -- ie: dug into-- the soil.
