Ghost hosta soggy leaves

Asked May 6, 2019, 6:17 PM EDT

I have some ghost hosta and they came in looking healthy but all of them now have what I can only describe as soggy leaves. The leaves are just falling apart and I’m not sure what the cause is. I have 20 plus variety of hosta in the yard and none of the rest look like this

Our plant pathologist looked at your photos. We cannot determine the cause of the symptoms you are seeing. A cultivar like this is possibly not as tough as regular hostas. Foliar nematodes can be a problem in some hostas but you would see streaks of browning in between the leaf veins. I do not see that in your photos. These also can get crown rot. Possibly they are reacting to too much moisture.
