linden tree damage

Asked May 4, 2019, 1:17 PM EDT

my linden tree has something stripping the bark off of some branches. it happened during the winter but now seems to be happening a lot. I don't see anything doing it I thought maybe it was a squirrel but never see them doing it. This is the first time this has happened. Any guesses?

Hello, and thanks for contacting us. The only reference I can find about this kind of bark damage on linden suggests it may be from squirrels. See:

I'm afraid there is nothing you can do to prevent this damage except remove the animals. I'm sorry we cannot offer more suggestions.
