When should fertilizer first be applied to the turf in the spring?

Thank you for the question. There is no single answer to your question because much depends on the type of lawn you like to maintain. For example, a low input lawn that is never watered, grass clippings are allowed to decompose back into the soil and is mowed to taller height only needs fertilizer once per year, in the fall. Other more highly manged lawns need up to 4 applications per year.
