Satsuma plum leaf curl

Asked May 2, 2019, 4:55 PM EDT

I can't see any sign of insects, except a ladybug. Do you know what might be causing it and how to treat it?

Thank you for your question. Without a photo or chance to examine the leaf, I’m going to give you an article on plum leaf curl causes, when you see lady beetles: http://ipm.ucanr.edu/PMG/r611301811.html If you look carefully, you might find aphids that the lady beetles are eating, together with the nectar the aphids secrete (and perhaps ants). You can bring leaves into the Clackamas County Extension office (200 Warner Milne Road, Oregon City, 9-noon and 1-4 any workday for examination. Please don’t spray anything until you’re certain, or you will kill valuable lady beetles. Good luck!
