Prepping a old neglected field for crop production

Asked April 26, 2019, 9:36 PM EDT

Hello we are beginner farmers. I've been reading your article on this topic. We bbn plan on going organic and have been doing homework on this and we have a old neglected field we would like to use for this. My question is seems that it's a neglected field Do we till it even though the things I've been reading say to go no till. But we realize we have to get rid of the over growth of weed etc .

When bringing an old field into production sometimes you just need to till. It is even more important if you want to keep in organic. Many times these fields need to be leveled out and small brush needs to be managed. Starting with a clean level field will pay dividends in the long run. Let me know if you have more questions.
