Mineral rights futures - Monroe County

Asked April 25, 2019, 10:14 AM EDT

As a landowner in Monroe County, I am looking for information about if the land there (specifically southern Monroe county near the Ohio border - Whiteford Township) is deemed as having any value in mineral rights and if there has ever been any interest from companies to pursue leasing/drilling land there.

We cannot comment on the value of mineral rights, but we do have many resources on oil and gas - https://www.canr.msu.edu/oil_and_gas/helpful_info_from_other_sources

Also, you are encouraged to view the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality's map of oil and gas wells in the state - https://www.michigan.gov/documents/deq/MICHIGAN_OIL_GAS_MAP_411600_7.pdf. This map suggests that Monroe County is not the most productive area in the state for such resources, which might infer mineral rights values are less, relatively speaking.
