Preparing garden beds for planting

Asked April 22, 2019, 8:33 AM EDT

Hello, I have a small greenhouse in which I've been starting my plants. I expect to plant them outside around mid-May. Before then, I will be contracting a crew to spread compost over the garden beds. Once I've planted everything, I plan to let a few weeks go by so the plants can establish themselves and then have the crew come back and spread mulch over the garden beds. Does that make sense? Thank you for your advice.

Yes, that sounds like a fine plan. If you have not done so in recent years, please consider taking and submitting a soil sample to get some baseline information on your soil:
