Working for Poultry

Asked April 16, 2019, 5:27 PM EDT

Hello, I was hoping to find a wormer for my chickens and geese, one without an egg withdrawal would be preferred. But any information would be helpful. Our local DC Coop in Roseburg said that they currently do not have one as the one they used to have got pulled off the shelf, might have been a labeling issue? anyway any info would be great. Linda

Generally the wormer of choice for poultry is Piperazine (Wazine). It is added to the water for 24 hours then removed. (follow the label directions) It works well. There are only a couple of compounds that are labeled for layers, it is too expensive to do the research to determine residues in eggs. Any withdrawal for layers will be at least 2 weeks as it takes nearly that long for a hen to form an egg yolk.
