Effects of dewormer or hatching eggs and or baby chicks

Asked April 10, 2019, 9:41 PM EDT

Dear Expert,

Dewormers such as Wazine, if used on Chickens and they lay fertile eggs that eventually turn into chickens, are the chicks (once they mature) safe to eat? My concern is that if the chicken was medicated and laid a fertile egg during the withdraw period (i.e. less than 14 days), and the egg was allowed to develop into a chick, will the chick be contaminated or safe to eventually eat?

Wazine is NOT approved for chickens for egg production. There is no problem with using it for breeders. It will not end up in the meat of chicks hatched from breeders that have been treated with Wazine.
