fox behavior

Asked April 5, 2019, 3:02 PM EDT

A family of foxes lives nearby. I've twice seen one of the adults run off with one of the youngsters in its mouth. I'm guessing that maybe Mom or Dad might be taking it to a kill to teach it about hunting. Any explanation for this behavior?

We suspect that the parents are moving their den location for some reason. Perhaps there is construction or activity that is threatening them. Moving their kits in their mouths is normal behavior. Dogs and cats move their young the same way.
