Boxwood dying

Asked April 5, 2019, 9:11 AM EDT

Good morning - I am writing in to see if you have any idea what might be going on with my beautiful boxwood. My boxwood are over 20 years old and showing some signs of some kind of disease. I can send more pictures of the others. They seem healthy at this point. Thank you!

Older boxwood sometimes get what is called Boxwood Decline. Here is our page on that: https://extension.umd.edu/hgic/topics/boxwood-decline
It may be a combination of issues, and you will need to do some sleuthing and close inspection to determine what might be going on.

The good news is that it doesn't look like the new invasive boxwood blight disease that is decimating some plantings.
We would recommend not introducing any new boxwoods into your landscape for the time being.
