Testing maple syrup for lead

Asked April 2, 2019, 2:45 PM EDT

I received a phone call asking where you can have maple syrup tested for lead content. This maple syrup producer said that MDEQ is advising that they no longer use tin for evaporators. He's wanting to have his product tested for lead.

The person can call the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development at 800 292 3939. They may test for lead there.
