Perennial grass in container?

Asked March 30, 2019, 11:10 AM EDT

A friend wants to plant Karl Foerster feather reed grass in a container. She lives here in the Twin Cities. I don’t think it would survive the winter. I also feel it might not even reach its full height in one season if she decides to go ahead and plant it as an annual. Are my concerns accurate? She wants it as a screen on her deck, so she wants that height. Are there annual grasses that would provide the privacy she’s after?

Karl Foerster does well in MN. https://www.monrovia.com/plant-catalog/plants/412/foersters-feather-reed-grass/ Plantings that I have seen are vigorous.
