Boxwood Blight

Asked March 27, 2019, 2:31 PM EDT

My boxwoods may have blight. I'd like to have samples of them tested for it and was wondering if you offer that service. I can bring samples to your office in Derwood. Thanks for your help.

You can take samples to the Derwood office for a visual inspection of the symptoms you are seeing. I recommend calling the office first to see if there are specific times for dropping off samples. http://extension.umd.edu/montgomery-county

You also can send us photos of the foliage, stems, and entire plant(s). Key diagnostic characteristics of boxwood blight are black lesions on the foliage, black cankers on the green portions of the stems, and defoliation. You can see photos/descriptions of the symptoms in these two publications. https://extension.umd.edu/sites/extension.umd.edu/files/_docs/programs/ipmnet/Boxwood%20Blight-UnivO...
