Hello,

Thank you for reaching out to me with your question about manure. Is this manure that was stacked in the field? That will help me to better answer this question for you.

If it is stacked manure, it can be left in a field uncovered for 6 months and if covered, 1 year. The pile should be kept 150 feet from surface waters and non-farm homes and 50 feet from property lines. Is this something you are looking to do?

Thank you and feel free to email me directly at roger392@msu.edu.
Have a wonderful weekend!

Sincerely,
