Air plant

Asked March 17, 2019, 11:26 AM EDT

Hi! What is causing some of these leaves to brown? I spray the plant every other week and let it fully dry out. Is it dying? How do I prevent it from continuing?

I am glad you asked this question as I have never been successful when I brought air plants back from Florida but it was always just before gardening season so i didn't care much and just pitched them.
Clemson has an excellent article on this at https://hgic.clemson.edu/factsheet/air-plants/. They suggest misting - and you have tried that - or dunking and I think that is what you ought to do, dunk. IF doing a dunk at least once a week is too hard,Illinois State's article suggests misting every 2-3 day. https://web.extension.illinois.edu/state/newsdetail.cfm?NewsID=28300

I hope this is useful information and I thank you for contacting OSU's AaMG. I hope you are successful. I am going to Florida next week and will bring some back and try this myself so I thank you for encouraging me to try again.

and I will try along with you.
