Brown Marmorated Stink Bug

Asked March 12, 2019, 1:28 PM EDT

We have been seeing a few brown marmorated stink bugs in our house in the spring for the last 3 years. (We are just picking them up with a kleenex and flushing them down the toilet.) Starting last week, we are seeing about 1 per day in different places in our house so we are having a hard time figuring out where they are coming in. The MSU info says you can spray outside your house with a pesticide in the fall to keep them from entering. Does it make any sense to spray outside the house in the spring or should we assume the ones in our house at this time of year are actually trying to find their way out? Could spraying in spring actually result in more coming into the house to avoid the insecticide? Thank you for any info you can provide.

Yes, they are trying to get back outside in the spring. Spraying for them in the spring will not likely affect their numbers one way or the other.
