Growing honey dew or musk melons in Detroit area

Can these types of melons be grown in our zone? When to plant? Seed or seedlings? Thank you!

Yes, it is possible to grow many different kinds of melons in Michigan. Starting with transplants as opposed to direct seeding can increase survival rates and give longer-season varieties more time to bear fruit.
