Can you provide a recommended schedule or link to a schedule that shows when to start spraying residential ornamental apple trees in the spring?
Ottawa County Michigan
Not sure I know what you mean by ornamental apple. To me that means it is just there to look at and fruit is not eaten. Flowering crab apples are ornamental apples. For ornamental foliar diseases are the main focus, to ensure the continued health of the tree. Apple scab is a foliar disease that can defoliate apples. Control is achieved by growing resistant varieties of with sprays to prevent the disease. Here is an article on controlling apple scab in crabapples. https://www.canr.msu.edu/news/why_is_my_crabapple_tree_losing_leaves.
If you are asking about sprays for apples where you will eat the fruit and need to protect against insects , I recommend this short resource from the University of Kentucky https://plantpathology.ca.uky.edu/files/ppfs-fr-t-18.pdf.
Most of the sprays for apples are to protect the fruit but the fungicide program used to control scab in apples will work well for crabapples.
