Vegetable Seeds

Someone gave me many packs of different seeds, more than I can use in one season. How long can I keep the seeds? I assume different lengths of time for different plants. I just need a a ballpark estimate.

Hi -

There should be a date on the package that will tell you when the packages were produced. That will help you determine initial age. Then, use this link to determine possible viability based on the type of seed and age:

No matter what the chart says, you need to do a germination test on older seed to see how many will actually germinate. Instructions for this are at this link:
