Asked February 22, 2019, 5:03 PM EST

is there scientific evidence that nuts, seeds and other allergens stored in air tight sealed containers such as tupperware or rubbermaid (or other sealed food service approved containers) are hazardous or deemed contaminants to other non allergens below or on the same shelf as those which are not considered allergens?

Extension does not have good information regarding containment of allergens in a bakery. I suggest that you contact the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Center for Food Safety at 1-888-463-6332. They are open M-F 10-4 Eastern Time. They have some information on their website. https://www.fda.gov/Food/GuidanceRegulation/GuidanceDocumentsRegulatoryInformation/Allergens/ucm106890.htm
