What Zone Am I
I recently asked about container plants that could winter-over and the answer I got said to plant 2 zones hardier. Question: What zone am I and which zone(s) would be two zones hardier. I am at: 219 Glenrae Dr., Catonsville, Md 21228
Catonsville, Maryland is located in USDA hardiness zone 7a. For reference, you can use the following website to see your growing zone: https://planthardiness.ars.usda.gov/phzmweb/interactivemap.aspx.
For perennial container plants that you want to over-winter in your zone, look for ones that are cold hardy to at least zone 5a. For example, a 'Golden Sprite' Chamaecyparis is hardy to zone 5, so that would be a suitable choice for containers. http://conifersociety.org/conifers/conifer/chamaecyparis/obtusa/golden-sprite/
You can find the hardiness zone information on the plant tags/pots when you shop at your garden center/nursery.
