Frozen fiddle leaf fig

Asked February 4, 2019, 9:36 AM EST

My 6 foot fiddle leaf fig spent a night in our all season room in below freezing temps when our heater failed. The next morning all the leaves started to fall and turn dark green and brown. I pinched one of the branches in hopes of encouraging it to grow but didn’t see any white liquid emerge from the exposed stem. Think I can’t get it back to life ?

Thanks for your question. Since these are tropical plants which can tolerate low temperatures to 30 only briefly, it is a tossup whether your plant will survive. Keep regular care (heated) until summer to see if it revives. Here is an article about the plant: http://www.missouribotanicalgarden.org/PlantFinder/PlantFinderDetails.aspx?taxonid=282753&isprofile=0& Good luck!
