late blooming pieris and rue

Asked January 29, 2019, 9:46 PM EST

Perhaps soon the unusual will become usual, but i was shocked to have pieris and rue bloom in Dec. We did have some early chill then warmth so maybe they both felt it was spring. Assume they will bloom again in spring. (Yes, i'm running behind sched, but maybe seeing some bloom pics in Jan have some benefit.)

Here and there around Maryland, a few plants bloomed this December that do not normally bloom. Many different species were involved. Yes, it was caused by the weather fluctuations. Depending upon how fully they bloomed, they may produce some bloom in spring but how much will vary. Could range from almost none to almost normal.
