Sagebrush in Montgomery County

Asked January 14, 2019, 9:41 AM EST

Hello, I am a transplant to the area from Nevada and I love and miss my home-state flower - the sagebrush. I was wondering if there is a variety of sagebrush that would flourish in the much wetter climate of Montgomery County?

Welcome to Maryland!
We are sorry to say, but no, there isn't a variety of Sagebrush (Artemisia tridentata) that does well here.
Depending on what it is that you love most about the plant, you might consider other Artemisias, Dusty Miller, Caryopteris, a cultivar of Goldenrod (Solidago), or perhaps some of the many sages that do well here.
