Lambsquarters or something else?

Asked January 10, 2019, 12:44 AM EST

I’ve been trying to identify this shrub for a week! Judging from a field book I have, it could be lambsquarters, but none of the photos online suggest the same. Help please? Thanks!

District of Columbia County District of Columbia weeds invasive lambsquarters kochia noral growth

Looks like a weed of European origin known as Kochia. It is similar to lambsquarters, but the leaves are narrower and not toothed or lobed like lambsquarters.
Should be pulled with seeds and carefully bagged as garbage. Do not compost or put out for collection with organic waste.
