Treatment for azaleas lace bugs

Asked December 1, 2018, 1:08 PM EST

Hi, Could you please help me confirm that what this azalea is suffering from are lace bugs? If so, what would be a good treatment to address this? At what time of the year should this be done? Many thanks in advance!

Yes, this is a severe infestation of azalea lace bugs. Here is our webpage--be sure to open the publication link at the bottom for more detail on timing: https://extension.umd.edu/hgic/topics/thrips-houseplants Check the label of pesticides closely for temperature limits when spraying!

If this is a chronic problem caused by a too-sunny location, consider moving the shrubs.
