how attract mason bees
We have a mason been house, but now wonder how to attract mason bees. do you have any ideas? We live in Flower Valley in Rockville and grow some vegetables and some flowers (mainly dahlias). We placed the mason bee house in a clump of evergreens at one end of our yard.
The Mason bee life cycle is comprised of one active period a year, for 6-8 weeks, in spring. So, from April to June, they will need flowers. Since your dahlias are late season bloomers, you'll want to plant lots of early and late spring flowers for them. They also need a source of mud nearby (for nest plugging).

The type of flowers you plant can also make a difference. This gives some good choices: https://extension.umd.edu/hgic/topics/how-id-prevent-and-manage-plant-problems
