can cat urine seep through carpet and padding onto a concrete slab? if so, how do you treat the concrete to eliminate the odor and prevent other pets from smelling it and urinating on those spots once re-carpeted? If tile is laid on untreated concrete will the odor be eliminated or will it seep through?

Hello-

Yes, cat urine can seep all the way through to the concrete if there were several issues and carpets were not cleaned quickly.

To clean and treat the area, clean first with a vinegar/water mixture to get rid of the odor. You may also try an enzymatic cleaner that will help to break down the urine. In some cases, it may be recommended to seal the concrete after cleaning.

I would recommend at least cleaning with an enzyme based cleaner before laying down the tile.
