Cycle of seed cone production in Oregon forests

Asked November 7, 2018, 12:39 PM EST

Hi. Can you connect me with someone who can describe the potential cycles of seed cone production in Oregon's coniferous forests on the west slope of the Cascade's? In the 1950's and 60's, Gashwiler studied seed cone production in relation to deer mouse abundance/fecundity in 1956 - 1961. I am similarly interested in understanding how any potential cycle in seed cones production might impact deer mouse abundance. Gashwiler seemed to find a cycle of high seed cone production every three years, and low production in between . Thank you! John Deshler 503-823-1330
