Store bought manure

Will bagged composted manure help get a compost pile going or are all the beneficial organisms gone?

Thank you for your question. Since bagged manure typically has been composted for six months or so, and in some composting processes, has been exposed to high heat, the beneficial microbes’ numbers may have been reduced. However, this process is designed to reduce pathogen content (‘bad’microbes). So long as your compost pile has enough air and water, the ‘good’ microbes will be replenished enough to continue the decomposition process.
