Tall fescue and fine fescue are cool season grasses. Their roots grow the best between 50 and 65 degrees. The roots will continue to grow whenever temperatures are around there in the winter. They can even grow at less than 50 degrees, but grow much slower as it get down toward freezing.

So, like we do not recommend planting grass seed after mid-October, we can't recommend planting sod this late, but as long as the weather stays mild, it should be able to establish. Water will be a key factor.
