Identify a shrub

Asked October 24, 2018, 4:02 PM EDT

I have attached a picture of a fall flowering shrub which is on a street near my house in Arnold, Md. It has a lovely aroma and I wanted to know what kind of shrub it is. I have attached a picture of the leaves and the tiny flower. Thank you.

Unfortunately, this is either autumn olive or in its family. This is an Asian invasive shrub that was brought in for the foliage color, fragrance and incredible number of berries, which were supposed to be good for birds. The birds did eat the berries, but they spread it everywhere, and now it is a problem in parks and wild areas or natural areas, where is crowds out the native plants that our native wildlife needs.

We cannot recommend it, and it is no longer sold because of the damage it does.
